Introd

The spot finds its place at an altitude of 880 metres, at the entrance of Valsavarenche and Rhêmes valley, situated in the large area of the Gran Paradiso National Park. It is the ideal base of departure for discovering the beauty of the different places of Aosta Valley. Introd is the written pronunciation of “entre eaux”, between the waters, as it is situated at the confluence of the streams of the above-mentioned valleys. In the summer season you can find lots of activities: the excursions, through the pinewoods or through broad-leaved woods, through the recommended routes  from Les Combes, repeatedly chosen by Pope John Paul II for His prayer and rest and which are accessible even to those that practise mountain bike. Particularly important in Introd is the presence of a castle dating from the 13th century with his garden, as well as the contiguous farm Ola, with its simple but harmonious architecture, one of the best examples of rural building of the time in Aosta Valley. Very close, in a predominant place, stands the church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul. The position of Introd even in the winter season is enviable as the visitor can access the above valleys where all the snow sports can be practised. But he who stops at Introd finds some other reasons of interest: woodcraftsmen here make objects and fittings having a remarkable artistry.
