Beautiful lateral valley, the Rhêmes valley offers a really enchanting landscape. At the top of the valley, in a sunny hollow, surrounded by meadows and woods stands Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, a holiday centre at 1723 m in the Gran Paradiso National Park. A little and charming alpine resort, with a rustic and welcoming atmosphere, provided with accommodation facilities that will offer you a warm reception and sporting facilities that will allow you to practise different activities. Summer is the ideal season to discover the alpine traditions and practise mountaineering sports such as walking in the nature or cycling on clearly signalled paths of different levels of difficulty. Some excursions reach the Highway n°2 of Aosta Valley and others permit the crossing into the Val Soana (Piedmont) and Val d’Isère (Savoy) and the neighbour valleys of Valsavarenche and Valgrisenche.
Besides, nature lovers can reach suggestive peaks committing themselves to the experienced mountain guides. It is also possible to fish for trout, to play tennis, football or volleyball. To nature lovers, Rhêmes-Notre-Dame keeps a park visiting centre and most of all the possibility of watching directly the fauna (chamois, ibexes, marmots, foxes, eagles, hawkes and the magnificent lammergeyer, which recently reappeared in Aosta Valley) and of course the variegated flora.
During the winter Rhêmes-Notre-Dame is the paradise for skiing lovers: several kilometres of trails and slopes suitable for beginners as well as for experienced snowboarders are at your disposal.
The surrounding peaks and valleys are particularly appreciated by those who practise ski touring and ski mountaneering. Children can have fun and learn to ski with a moving walkaway and a winter park. But winter is also the right season to watch nature, maybe following the spoors on the snow left by the fauna of the Gran Paradiso National Park or using snow shoes, as well as tasting gastronomic specialities in local restaurants and hotels. |
