| Beautiful lateral valley, the Rhêmes valley offers a really enchanting landscape. Rhêmes-St-Georges, the first village you reach while travelling over the valley, is a holiday centre at 1228 m on the edge of the Gran Paradiso National Park. The village stands about 20 km far from Aosta, among the beauty of the woods and the magnificent peaks of the Alps. The boast of this rural village is certainly the simple and direct contact, a natural and uncontamined environment, where you can appreciate the quietness in the mountains.
During the summer, nature lovers can go to excursions through paths of different difficulty, short or long, suitable for any level of training. Some stretch out across the wood, others reach the panoramic ridges that separate Valsavarenche from Valgrisenche; these routes offer you the possibility of meeting some specimens of chamois, ibexes, deers, roes, marmots, hawkes, eagles and even the magnificent lammergeyer, which recently reappeared in Aosta Valley. The possibility of doing free climbing and of going on a horse ride should not be forgotten. You can also appreciate the numerous gastronomic festivals, cultural events and music performances which alternate during the summer. Winter in Rhêmes-St-Georges is quite, ideal for those who like relaxing holidays and for ice-fall specialists. Close to the village nature lovers can easily watch chamois and ibexes looking for the grass or recognise their spoors on the snow. 10 minutes far, Rhêmes-Notre-Dame offers the possibility to nature lovers of practising cross country skiing on several kilometres of trails in the nature and a ski station for those who prefer downhill skiing, as well as a moving walkaway for children which can have fun and learn to ski. There’s also a winter park. |
